This Wednesday, March 18, at the ECOAR))) auditorium, we held two key reflections to better understand the current moment. At 6:00 p.m., Asier Arias Domínguez opened the session with “The System Is the Problem! Militarization, Colonialism and Biophysical Limits,” emphasizing the need to rethink analytical frameworks in order to understand the relationship between the war-driven spiral and ecosocial degradation. The talk connected the reconfiguration of the world-system and the European Union’s rearmament programs with the need to place social justice at the center of the environmental debate.
At 8:00 p.m., Augusto Zamora Rodríguez delivered “Yankees, Go Home! World Politics in the Time of Trump. From Venezuela to Iran” offering an analysis of U.S. foreign policy and its repercussions across different international scenarios, in a context of growing geopolitical instability.
The reflection will continue tomorrow, Thursday, March 19, with two new interventions focused on ideological transformations and community responses to reactionary threats. At 6:00 p.m., Pablo Elorduy will present “Not One Step Back! Silicon Valley Embraces Fascism” where we will examine the connections between major tech corporations and far-right movements. The session will close at 8:00 p.m. with Irene Zugasti and her talk “They Will Not Silence Us! How Are Wars Told to Us? Geopolitics and Communication” reflecting on war propaganda and the responsibility of journalism in shaping public consent around conflicts.
Tomorrow we will continue building networks, sharing analysis, and strengthening collective resistance.
Nobody will do it for us!
